Turquoise Peacock In The Bowl

The peacock is a possessor of some of the most admired human characteristics, and is a symbol of integrity and the beauty we can achieve when we endeavor to show our true colors. In history, myth, legend and lore, the peacock symbolism carries portents of: Nobility, Holiness, Guidance, Protection and Watchfulness. This piece celebrates the beauty and characteristics of the peacock, with the accent of three paisleys. The piece can be used as a bowl or just something to admire. The piece was thrown on the potter's wheel using light brown stoneware, underglaze, decal and glazed with a clear glaze. The exterior is a flat, matt glaze finish. This vessel can be hand washed or place in the dishwasher. Of course the vessel is microwave safe. All of my handmade pottery is made with non-toxic stoneware clay and glazes. While they are microwave and dishwasher safe, they are also works of art and I recommend hand-washing to preserve the vibrancy of the glaze over time. If you are looking for a handmade gift for that special person in your life, this ceramic bowl would make a great one because unique vessels make unique gifts!!!
